Weavers Studio in collaboration with Veerayatan, an NGO with an international network has been actively involved in setting up a Vocational Training Center for the earthquake affected victims in Kutch, Gujarat with a focus on each student and participant of this program. The objective is to see that they are usefully employed and constructively occupied after successful completion of the training imparted, by the Khadi Gramodhyog Prayog Samiti Ahmedabad.

The first phase was to install 10 amar charkhas.The yarn spun would be marketed by existing NGO’s and commercial production units in Kutch to produce shawls, fabrics using the handspun yarn.
The next phase of the vocational training is setting up of hand looms to enable in-house production of the yarn that is spun on the amar charkhas. This would be regularly monitored to ensure the finest quality of yarn spun to attract buyers for commercial sale.
